Speaker
James Wheaton from the Energy Savers program
on Small property investor cost savings programs.
For free, CNT Energy staff will assess a building and its
utility bills and recommend improvements that can cut energy consumption and
bills. Then Community Investment Corp. can help finance those improvements
by making low-cost, seven-year loans that are, in effect, a second mortgage
on a building.
CNT can help building owners choose contractors and
follow up to ensure the work is yielding the expected results. So far,
audits have been done on buildings containing more than 32,000 apartment
units in the Chicago area. Of that sum, energy upgrades have benefited more
than 10,000 units, and Community Investment Corp. has provided financing for
projects affecting 3,300 of those apartments.
