Targeting Lilac Ledge Letter to News Sun Editor 1/10/03 Lilac Ledge Apartment inspections began Jan. 6 as the city of Waukegan collects $25 per apartment. Shame on you Waukegan City Clerk Wayne Motley. Lilac Ledge is one of the very best managed apartment buildings in Waukegan. Lilac Ledge at 542 Washington St. is a building that the city should be very proud of. Lilac Ledge is the crown jewel as you enter downtown Waukegan on Washington Street. Lilac Ledge is owned, managed and maintained by caring professionals. You put parking meters in front of Lilac Ledge to tax the sons, daughter, relatives, friends, care givers, etc. who come to visit and assist the seasoned citizens who live there. Now you come up with some phony, annual inspection that will cost the owners of Lilac Ledge $5,175. How about inspecting the crime-ridden, rundown, overcrowded, poorly run apartments that have caused people like me and the city's police officers to leave Waukegan. If you can't find the bad apartments, I'll come in and show them to you. Why are you targeting Lilac Ledge? And you want to be the mayor of Waukegan. Burton Setterlund Lindenhurst |
